CellSend 2.0 is Out!

Today we are proud to introduce to you the brand new version of CellSend!

In this version we completely redesigned the mobile web app with a fresh new look and improved capabilities.

The first thing you will notice is that you no longer have “next” or “back” arrows to move between the texts you sent.
Instead you will see a stream of chat-like message bubbles representing all the texts you send via CellSend.

We also added WhatsApp and Waze integration so you can quickly send a piece of text to either one of these apps.

Here is the list of all the changes in this version:

  1. Brand new look
  2. View a stream of all your CellSend texts to and from your computer
  3. Improved performance
  4. Ability to send your text to WhatsApp (must have the latest version of WhatsApp installed)
  5. Ability to open your text in Waze (Must have Waze installed)
  6. New logo
  7. Quickly send a text to your other devices using the text box at the bottom of the app.

If you are running iOS 7, please make sure you follow the instructions we issued a few days ago regarding problems with CellSend functionality on iOS 7 devices.

And lastly, here is our latest video about CellSend 2.0 – we hope you enjoy it!

Issues with CellSend in iOS7

On September 18, Apple released iOS 7 to all compatible devices.

Unfortunately, iOS 7 has some critical bugs and issues with regards to web apps (apps that run from the browser, like CellSend).

Some of the issues that affect CellSend’s web app are:

  1. Cannot delete texts
  2. Cannot open links (including YouTube and Email links)
  3. Cannot use the Call, SMS or Map buttons

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it until Apple fixes the bugs in iOS 7.

In the mean time, we implemented a work-around: we disable the “web app” mode for iOS 7 users.

Disabling the web app mode means that when you click the CellSend icon on your phone’s homescreen, the app will open in Safari instead of in it’s own dedicated window (see the image below).

CellSend with Web App mode disabled

This work-around applies only to iOS 7 users – other users are not affected.

To implement this fix on your iOS device, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the CellSend app icon from your homescreen (tap and hold the icon until it shakes, then click the “x” button to delete it).
  2. Open “Safari” and go to http://csnd.me/<your verification code>
  3. Add the app to your homescreen.

The fix will not take effect until you remove and re-add CellSend to your phone’s homescreen!

We apologize for this inconvenience and as soon as Apple release a fix for the problems in iOS 7 we will re-enable “web app” mode.
